Um. It’s because society was all about saving face. Sure, they looked classy but there were immoral societal practices. Everything was about money and hidden sex. the 70s and 80s were about societal rebellion. Sure, those two decades may have seemed so classy, but they were routed with corrupt politics, public and private extramarital affairs, prostitutes, illegal political and economical actions and need I go on? Let’s not forget the vast amount of sexism, either. Don’t get me wrong, the 50s and 60s were a great time of expansion, particularly for the US and I love those eras, but no time is perfect. xD


Yeah.. I wasn’t really talking about the decade in general. My point was mostly just to illustrate the contrast between those two decades and how strange it was that one flowed into the other, yet style wise they became so awkwardly opposite. From elegance on a constant basis to something far more laid back and relaxed. They seem worlds apart and I just find it ironic, yet strange at the same time.
